The Indy Air Race is scheduled for August 11, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. It will be hosted by KTYQ, Indy Executive Airport - http://www.airnav.com/airport/KTYQ
Registration is from 7:30-8:30 Saturday morning. You MUST be registered and attend the 9:00 a.m. pilot's brief to participate in the race.
No brief - no race.
This is an open course timed speed race open to all propeller driven aircraft. Aircraft launch in speed order, fastest first. The total course length is 145.43 nm.
The Sport Air Racing League classes will be used and offer racing for experimental and factory aircraft.
Flying will be VFR only with race minimums 1000’ ceiling and 3 miles visibility.
On course MEA is 500AGL or FAR’s if higher. All Racers must adhere to all FARs.
The course starts at at Indy Executive. The Start Line is just to the north of State Road 32 where it T-intersects with the airport entry road.

Turn 1 KCFJ - Crawfordsville Municipal Airport The intersection of the runway and the second from the southern-most taxiway at Crawfordsville Airport. 39° 58.464 N 86° 55.292 W On course heading 296°
Turn 2 IN55 - Songer Airstrip (PVT) The turn point is the tower nested in the buildings on the north end of Songer's north-south turf strip just south of Veedersburg and the strip might not be visible due to mature corn crops at race time. Be careful. 40° 04.939 N 87° 15.908W On course heading 273°
Turn 3 9IN9 - Gessie Airport (PVT) The intersection of County Road 1350N and County Road 250W just northwest of the Gessie Airport (9IN9) 40° 04.876 N 87° 30.938 W On course heading 136°
Turn 4 Cecil M Harden Lake Bridge East end of the bridge on Indiana Route 36 that spans Cecil M Harden Lake. 39° 45.476 N 87° 03.289 W On course heading 162°
Turn 5 Cagles Mill Lake Dam. Turn at parking lot south of dam. 39° 29.077 N 86° 54.961 W On course heading 086°
Turn 6 Intersection of SR 142 & Herbemont Rd. There is a Baptist Church on the NW corner of the intersection and a parking lot. 39° 31.267 N 86° 33.844 W On course heading 039°
Turn 7 Truck Stop Interstate 70 & SR 39. The northwest corner of the parking lot in the truck stop just south of the tall Truck Stop sign on Interstate 70. 39° 36.718 N 86° 28.920 W On course heading to the Finish Line 328°
Finish Northern most tip of the small pond on the east side of a house just west of Layne Airport. 39° 47.163 N 86° 38.927 W On course heading back to KTYQ is 055°
Recover at KTYQ - Indianapolis Executive Airport. Enter using normal traffic pattern. Victory pass optional.
Notes:
1. Safety is ALWAYS our primary concern. If there is something that strikes you as dangerous or odd on this course layout - LET US KNOW.
2. Turn Point Elevations are those depicted on Google Earth and may not (read probably does not) include height hazards.
3. Lat and Long are in Garmin Format - They have been rechecked but if you find and error - let us know.
4. It matters not Who is right, only What is right. There is no place for egos when it comes to safety.
